Conventional boat cleaning

The quality and appearance of the outer skin of the fibreglass - the gelcoat - is your boat’s greatest asset. However unlike an engine or mast, the precious gelcoat cannot be replaced.

Conventional boat cleaning services often use abrasives which not only damage and wear away the gelcoat whilst cleaning decks and the hull but also make the surface of the fibreglass more prone to subsequent attack. With each application a little more of the gelcoat is removed, making it more and more porous. As porosity increases so does the subsequent speed of staining.

Excessive use of abrasive cleaners whilst cleaning fibreglass can often remove the gelcoat entirely or leave only a very thin film resulting in that 'patchy' or grey look so often seen in harbours and marinas. Even slightly cut-back boats frequently appear chalky and uncared for.
